How to Rotate an Item

Rotating an item simply spins it around its own center. When selected, every item has a black circular rotation handle. Click and drag this handle in a circle to freely rotate the item.

For a more precise rotation, select the item and click Rotate in the Shape Layout group of the Design tab; then select an angle.

The angle you specify will only rotate the item from its original position; for example, clicking "90°" will rotate the item by 90° to the left once; but clicking "90°" a second time will not rotate the item 180°.

How to Flip an Item

Flipping an item makes a mirror image of the original item, in contrast to rotation. To flip an item, select it and click the Flip button in the Shape Layout group of the Design tab to see the menu of choices.

Flip Horizontally will flip the item from left to right, and Flip Vertically will turn the item upside down.
